Personal Medicine is medicine, but it’s not a pharmaceutical, and it’s not prescribed by a doctor or nurse. Personal Medicine is what we DO, and not what we take to get well and stay well. It comes from within us. It is part of our human resilience and inner wisdom. Personal Medicine works for:

Personal Medicine is an evidence-based practice developed by Pat Deegan, PhD. Pat Deegan’s Recovery Approach focuses on the person instead of the illness and offers hope-filled tools, technologies, and training for professionals, families & individuals.

Personal Medicine coaching focuses on recovery and well-being by developing individualized interventions that work specifically for you. It integrates the use of Personal Medicine cards and guides that include what has worked for others as a jumping off point to customization for you. There are published Personal Medicine cards and guides for a variety of topics such as anger, anxious feelings, distressing voices, feeling depressed, food cravings, grief, negative thinking, self-harm, sleep, and troublesome beliefs. However Personal Medicine can be adapted for any issue that you want to address including reducing medication.
