Position Summary: Employee will provide outreach to individuals with addiction at local emergency rooms, and will provide recovery support, peer education, intervention, and case management to patients involved in substance use services within CBHC’s inpatient and outpatient departments. Employee will provide immediate support to individuals experiencing substance abuse crises, and will assist individuals in learning from their experiences, sitting through powerful feelings, expressing their needs, and identifying what strengths they can use in the midst of crisis. Employee will serve as a mentor/coach and role model and will help connect individuals to recovery support services, as well as formal and informal community supports. Employee will provide case management and long term support to individuals involved in CBHC’s Medication Assisted Treatment services.
Certification as a certified recovery peer specialist certified by the Florida Certification Board; direct personal experience living in recovery from substance abuse and/or mental health conditions and has been in recovery for at least 2 years with a minimum of one year work experience as a peer. Must possess a non-judgmental, supportive attitude, be able to maintain consumer confidentiality, and have the ability to recognize and appropriately respond to crisis situations as well as the ability to follow operational procedure of CBHC.
Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist.
